zebra
ass-like animals with a distinctive black and white striped coat, large ears, tufted tail and stiff mane. Called also Equus burchelli (common zebra), E. zebra (mountain zebra), E. grevyi (Grevy's zebra) and some recognized subspecies.

faint striping in coats of horses, usually on the legs, also the neck and withers.

The nearly 3-year-old tot sat tall in the saddle for what her grandfather, Ken Cheney, 58, Garden Grove, estimated was her fourth pony ride, then led him to the petting zoo for the second time, where she patted baby goats, a baby zebra, a llama, a pot-bellied pig and other furry critters in turn.
This idea, which the researchers are now testing, is supported by other scientists' findings that baby zebra finches raised by different species learn the other species' songs and ignore zebra finch songs later in life.
Racing Stripes" is the tale of a baby zebra named Stripes (voiced by Frankie Muniz), who is raised by horse trainer Nolan Walsh (Bruce Greenwood) and his young daughter Channing (Hayden Panettiere) on their Kentucky farm.
