Babesia bigemina

The causative organism of Texas fever in cattle.

Babesia

a genus of large, round to pyriform protozoa, of the family Babesiidae. Includes piroplasms. These protozoa pass part of their life cycle in erythrocytes. Transmission between animals is by ticks.
