B-cell lymphoproliferative syndrome
An uncommon, life-threatening complication of BM or organ transplantation caused by profound immunosuppression, which may be induced by EBV; BLS occurs in < 0.5% of the recipients of HLA-identical BM,
but is common in Pts who suffered severe GVHD and were treated with anti-CD3 antibodies Clinical Ranges from self-limited, spontaneously-resolving infectious mononucleosis to oligoclonal or monoclonal proliferations and aggressive lymphomas
Prognosis 80-90% mortality in BM recipients; 60% survival in those receiving other organs. See EBV-related associated lymphoproliferative disorder. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
