ACST

A clinical trial comparing outcomes for carotid endarterectomy (CEA) to a “wait-and-see” strategy in asymptomatic patients with carotid artery narrowing.
Conclusion The 5-year stroke rate (fatal or disabled) for patients who had undergone CEA was 6.4%, vs. 11.8% in untreated patients.
