We hypothesized that subjects in the intervention group would show significant improvements over time, whereas subjects in the asymptomatic control group would retain stable functional status over time, as measured with the WUSPI, the Shoulder Rating Questionnaire (SRQ), and patient satisfaction scores. We conclude that acute schistosomiasis is a major clinical problem among travelers, diagnostic and therapeutic options for acute schistosomiasis are limited, and asymptomatic travelers returning from schistosomiasis-endemic areas should be screened and treated. Guidelines for the Management of Asymptomatic Women with Screened Detected Abnormalities have replaced 1994 guidelines as part of the National Cervical Screening Program. |
