ADSL

Asymmetric Digital Subsciber Line. A format for transferring data at speeds of up to 24 Mbits/second (downstream rate), which is 12 times the speed of ISDN and 25 times that of a 56K modem. ASDL requires a special modem at each end, but uses existing copper phone lines.
