In the last four years, the Somerset County Park Commission's summer camp has focused its programming on helping children with learning disabilities or Aspergers Syndrome to maintain the proper skills for school.
The award is being given by the Help Group, a Los Angeles-based non-profit dedicated to serving children with autism and Aspergers Syndrome.
It was tested among students diagnosed with autism and Aspergers disorder in one school and those with profound developmental delay caused by cerebral palsy, mental retardation, Downs Syndrome, fetal alcohol syndrome and environmental deprivation in the second school.
