The sinus thrombosis resulted in an increase in pressure in the superior sagittal sinus and a decrease in CSF absorption by arachnoid villi. Elevated CSF pressure without evidence of obstructive hydrocephalus, believed to result from basilar meningitis and impaired reabsorption of CSF across arachnoid villi, has recently been recognized as an important complication of cryptococcal meningitis (73). |
