aliasing

/ali·as·ing/ (a´le-as-ing)
1. introduction of an artifact or error in sampling of a periodic signal when the sampling frequency is too low to capture the signal properly.
2. in pulsed Doppler ultrasonography, an artifact occurring when the velocity of the sampled object is too great for the Doppler frequency to be determined by the system.
3. an artifact occurring in magnetic resonance imaging when a part being examined is larger than the field of view; an image of the area outside the field of view appears as an artifact inside the field of view.

aliasing

an artifact that is caused by undersampling of signal data in diagnostic imaging.

aliasing

A phenomenon that occurs when digitising less than two samples per period in a periodic function, where the anatomy being imaged by magnetic resonance extends beyond the field of view (FOV). Areas extending beyond the FOV boundaries are aliased back into the image to appear at artefactual locations.

ali·as·ing

(āl'ē-ăs-ing)
Magnetic resonance imaging artifact produced when anatomy outside the field of view is mismapped inside it.

aliasing

an imaging artefact in Doppler ultrasound, governed by the Nyquist limit, in which the blood flow direction appears to be reversed. An experienced operator can readily distinguish the aliased image from the true image.

JAG was always the best tool for automatic anti-aliasing," said Hal Rucker, president of Rucker Huggins.
The technology enables alias-free Nyquist sampling, which means that anti-aliasing filters are not needed, so system cost is reduced.
The TitleMan system consists of a frame buffer which plugs into a Macintosh for display and frame grabs; integrated software for creating titles and rendering and anti-aliasing PostScript titles and graphics; and an external rack-mountable chassis that takes black- burst reference in, and puts RGB, linear key, and sync out.
The DT9841E board contains two, 24-bit delta-sigma analog input channels with built-in anti-aliasing filters for superior performance in noise and vibration testing applications.
The GH-3001 uses an Active Matrix Liquid Crystal Display (AMLCD) that allows for clear off-axis viewing and anti-aliasing of graphics with clear readouts at any attitude as well as offering Night Vision System compatibility.
Scores in UT2004 (147 fps) and Tomb Raider (76 fps) were posted using the most demanding image quality settings commonly used by the gaming community: 1600x1200 pixels with 32-bit color depth using 4X anti-aliasing and 8X anisotropic filtering.
