Two furnaces melt glass, and there are five crucibles in which it is kept molten, and an equal number of annealers, in which the finished work is cooled down gently to prevent cracking. The class one cleanroom will include a wafer stepper, high angle ion-implanter, vertical furnaces, rapid thermal annealer (RTA), advanced metrology tools and other support equipment. The operation is part of BHP's Tin Mill 2000 Project, which is a $300M refurbishment of the Packaging Products plant, and includes a new Temper Mill, ET/TFS Line, Coil Preparation and Wrapping Line, as well as extensive upgrades to the Pickle Line, Cold Mill, CAL, Batch Annealers and No. |
