1. a color between green and indigo, produced by energy with wavelengths between 420 and 490 nm.
2. a dye or stain with this color.

aniline blue  a mixture of the trisulfonates of triphenyl rosaniline and of diphenyl rosaniline.
brilliant cresyl blue  an oxazin dye, usually C15H16N3OCl, used in staining blood.
methylene blue  dark green crystals or crystalline powder with a bronzelike luster; used in the treatment of methemoglobinemia and of cyanide poisoning, and as a bacteriologic stain and an indicator.
Prussian blue  an amorphous blue powder, Fe4[Fe(CN)6]3, used as a stain.
toluidine blue , toluidine blue O the chloride salt or zinc chloride double salt of aminodimethylaminotoluphenazthionium chloride; useful as a stain for demonstrating basophilic and metachromatic substances.
