Phyllanthus emblica; parts used: fruit, flowers, leaves, root bark, seeds; uses: in Ayurveda—pacifies tridosha (heavy, dry), ingredient in triphala, hypolipidemic, antiviral, immunomo-dulator, hepatoprotection, antioxidant, antimicrobial; fruit—tonic, constipation, headache, diabetes, anxiety, memory; leaves—conjunctivitis, bronchitis; precautions: none known. Also called
amalaki, amlaki or
Emblica officinalis. See also triphala.
