Q. What are natural or alternative ways to beat depression? I keep reading about how depression is caused by 'chemical imbalances' in the brain, and it feels like I don't stand a chance at beating it without going on Anti-depressants, but I don't want to go down this route cause I'm worried about the side-effects. Can anyone suggest natural ways to beat depression that don't involve medication?

A. On the spiritual side, depression can come from repressed anger. To get rid of that is easier said than done. Talking lets us vent our frustrations. Exercise helps you let go as you come away with a new perspective. Anger may come from not accepting things you cannot change. Pride may bring you down becuase you worry what others will think. Forgiveness is the best way let old grudges and hurt go. Let all that baggage go. Get rid of it. Being patient helps us see the other side of things and people. Let go of the guilt from the deep past. Move on. What has happened has gone. Move forward. If you fall down, get up and go again, and again and again. We learn from our pain. We learn from our sufferings.

But depite all these things, I still must take my medicine and keep seeing my doctor and do the very best with the circumstances I have. Be happy with you are and with you already have.

Q. Anybody familiar with alternative treatment for ADHD?

A. you can try melatonin,it helps calm one down which helps one focus,i use it on my son.

Q. How can I know it’ll help me? I have knee pain for several years, and after seeing numerous doctors that couldn’t offer a reasonable treatment, I’m thinking about trying some form of alternative medicine. How can I be sure it’ll help me? I’m tired of trying a new thing and then disappointing again.

A. You need to be more specific as to your knee pain. Is the pain caused because of over exertion or because of a few extra pounds? Have you had an MRI of your knees or is it tender pain caused from fibromyalgia?
