alfentanil /al·fen·ta·nil/ (al-fen´tah-nil) an opioid analgesic of rapid onset and short duration derived from fentanyl, used as the hydrochloride salt in the induction of general anesthesia and as an adjunct in general, regional, and local anesthesia.

These acquisitions included ophthalmic products Paremyd, Fluress, Ful-Glo and Rose Bengal from Allergan; Ocusert Pilo-20 and Pilo-40 from Alza and injectable products Sufenta and Alfenta from Janssen Pharmaceutica.
