alfentanil/al·fen·ta·nil/ (al-fen´tah-nil) an opioid analgesic of rapid onset and short duration derived from fentanyl, used as the hydrochloride salt in the induction of general anesthesia and as an adjunct in general, regional, and local anesthesia.
alfentanilA potent, short-acting opioid analgaesic and fentanyl analogue which is 10-fold stronger than morphine. It is an OP3 mu agonist.
