Alcohol, Drug Abuse, & Mental Health Administration

A US federal agency which was reorganized into other agencies in 1992 under the ADAMHA Reorganization Act [PL 102-321]): its research units—National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), and National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA)—were absorbed by the NIH; its service-oriented arms—Office for Substance Abuse Prevention (OSAP) and the Office for Treatment Intervention (OTI)—became the current Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
