Issues studied include plant-based antibodies and virus-like particles, genetic modification on Lolium and Festuca species, genetically engineered plants for feed and food, and agrobacterium rhizogene-mediated genetic transformations.
Agrobacterium tumefaciens genetically transforms plant cells by transferring a portion of the bacterial Ti-plasmid, designated the T-DNA, to the plant, and integrating the T-DNA into the plant genome.
Under normal conditions, Agrobacterium infects a plant by inserting that tumor-creating portion into the plant's DNA.
