Q. What should I get checked for after a year of alcoholism? I'm a little worried about what damage I might have caused during my little drinking escapade and would like to know what I should get checked out. I had a bit of abdominal pain in my stomach area sometimes after drinking so I am concerned mostly what might have caused that. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

Q. My son who is an alcohol abuse is undergoing treatment? My son who is an alcohol abuse is undergoing treatment. He stops his medicines in the middle of the treatment and restart taking alcohol. Doctor had warned to stop consuming alcohol in excess. With heavy drink he comes late at night and it frightens me. He drinks alcohol very badly and behaves violent also. He says he cannot stop. I am getting worried and was finding some information about the harm effects the excess drinking can bring to him?

A. Hello, Anyone who drinks too much liquor in too short a time, with too little in their stomach, or with too little body mass gets drunk. Some people can drink more than others because of genetic factors or because they have built up their tolerance, just like any other drug user. Ironically, “holding your liquor” is actually a sign that you may have a drinking problem.
