a fat (adipose) cell, potentially containing a large fat vacuole consisting mainly of triglycerides.

Our patient had an adipocytic WDL; on microscopic examination, his tumor clearly demonstrated the classic histopathologic characteristics of liposarcomas: variably sized mature adipocytes, widened fibrous septa, lipocytic atypia and, most important, lipoblasts with multivacuolated cytoplasm and scalloped nuclei (figure 2).
However, it does not explain why they might develop visceral adiposity, but this could be due to differential turnover rates of lipids in visceral adipocytes (higher) compared to peripheral adipocytes (lower).
