adenocarcinoma /ad·e·no·car·ci·no·ma/ (ad?e-no-kahr?si-no´mah) carcinoma derived from glandular tissue or in which the tumor cells form recognizable glandular structures.

clear cell adenocarcinoma  a rare malignant tumor of the female genital tract, containing tubules or small cysts; it may occur in the ovary, uterus, cervix, or vagina. One form has been linked to in utero exposure to diethylstilbestrol.

ductal adenocarcinoma of the prostate  adenocarcinoma of columnar epithelium in the peripheral prostatic ducts; it may project into the urethra.

endometrioid adenocarcinoma  the most common form of endometrial carcinoma, containing tumor cells differentiated into glandular tissue with little or no stroma.

gastric adenocarcinoma  any of a group of common stomach cancers, usually located in the antrum; it occurs particularly in Japan, Iceland, Chile, and Finland and may be linked to certain dietary substances such as nitrosamines and benzpyrene.

adenocarcinoma of the lung  a type of bronchogenic carcinoma made up of cuboidal or columnar cells in a discrete mass, usually at the periphery of the lungs.

papillary adenocarcinoma , polypoid adenocarcinoma that in which the tumor elements are arranged as finger-like processes or as a solid spherical nodule projecting from an epithelial surface.

adenocarcinoma of the ileum
