Adenocarcinoma

adenocarcinoma /ad·e·no·car·ci·no·ma/ (ad?e-no-kahr?si-no´mah) carcinoma derived from glandular tissue or in which the tumor cells form recognizable glandular structures.
acinar adenocarcinoma

2. the most common neoplasm of the prostate, usually arising in the peripheral acini.
acinic cell adenocarcinoma , acinous adenocarcinoma see under carcinoma.
bronchogenic adenocarcinoma  the usual type of adenocarcinoma of the lung; cf. bronchioloalveolar carcinoma.
clear cell adenocarcinoma  a rare malignant tumor of the female genital tract, containing tubules or small cysts; it may occur in the ovary, uterus, cervix, or vagina. One form has been linked to in utero exposure to diethylstilbestrol.
ductal adenocarcinoma of the prostate  adenocarcinoma of columnar epithelium in the peripheral prostatic ducts; it may project into the urethra.
endometrioid adenocarcinoma  the most common form of endometrial carcinoma, containing tumor cells differentiated into glandular tissue with little or no stroma.
gastric adenocarcinoma  any of a group of common stomach cancers, usually located in the antrum; it occurs particularly in Japan, Iceland, Chile, and Finland and may be linked to certain dietary substances such as nitrosamines and benzpyrene.
adenocarcinoma of the lung  a type of bronchogenic carcinoma made up of cuboidal or columnar cells in a discrete mass, usually at the periphery of the lungs.
papillary adenocarcinoma , polypoid adenocarcinoma that in which the tumor elements are arranged as finger-like processes or as a solid spherical nodule projecting from an epithelial surface.

A malignant tumor that arises within the tissues of a gland and retains its glandular structure.

adenocarcinoma (ad´nōkarsinō´m),
n a large group of malignant epithelial cell tumors of the glands. Specific tumors are diagnosed and named by the cell type of the tissue affected.
adenocarcinoma, acinic cell,
n a cancer of the salivary glands, primarily the parotid gland.
adenocarcinoma, polymorphous low-grade (PLGA)
n a cancer of the salivary glands, primarily in the minor salivary glands.

adenocarcinoma
carcinoma derived from glandular tissue or in which the tumor cells form recognizable glandular structures. Some are listed under the tissues or organs they invade.

adenocarcinoma of the ileum
a higher than usual prevalence is described in sheep and cattle in some very localized geographical areas, and a relationship to a high intake of bracken hypothesized. The lesions may be symptomless or cause intestinal obstruction. See also pteridium.
nasal adenocarcinoma
see enzootic nasal adenocarcinoma.
renal adenocarcinoma
causes little clinical abnormality in large animals but may be detectable as kidney enlargement during physical examination.
vaginal adenocarcinoma
occurs in white-faced sheep in high sun radiant areas due to short tail dock length or Mule's operation.
