Acremonium /Ac·re·mo·ni·um/ (ak″rĕ-mo´ne-um) a genus of imperfect fungi rarely isolated from human infection. A. falcifor´me, A. kilien´se, and A. reci´fei are agents of eumycotic mycetoma.
Acremonium [ak′rĕ-mo′ne-um] a genus of Fungi Imperfecti of the form-class Hyphomycetes, formerly called Cephalosporium. Some species produce cephalosporin antibiotics. Acremonium a genus of endophytic fungi with species symbiotic in Lolium perenne, Festuca arundinacea; produce toxic lolitrems and ergot alkaloids respectively. Unspecified species have been reported as a cause of eumycotic mycetoma and systemic mycosis in dogs. Acremonium coenophialum see Neotyphodium coenophialum.
