acid hydrolase

Any hydrolytic enzyme found in a lysosome that performs optimal catalysis at a pH of about 5.

acid hydrolase

an ENZYME that is capable of catalysing the HYDROLYSIS of compounds at acid pH (generally around pH 5). Enzymes in this group include certain PROTEINASES, PHOSPHATASES, LIPASES and NUCLEASES.
