1. The quality of being achromatic.
2. The correction of chromatic aberration by combining lenses of different refractive indexes and different dispersion.

The non-naming of race, for instance, may seem to constitute an achromatism which reverses apartheid, but that would be a politically naive definition of apartheid as purely prohibition of interracial sex.
The most explicit painting here is Interlude, 1999, whose near achromatism rec alls The Tender Trap, 1998, one of the best works in Brown's Deitch show.
