Acholeplasma oculi

(ă-kō-lē-plas'mă ok'yū-lī),
isolated from eyes of caprines affected by keratoconjunctivitis. Also isolated from goat udders and genital lesions, and from calves affected with bovine infectious keratoconjunctivitis.


a genus of the class Mollicutes and very closely related to the genus Mycoplasma.

Acholeplasma laidlawii
a common isolate in the lungs of calves with enzootic pneumonia but of doubtful significance.
Acholeplasma oculi
is a common finding in the conjunctivae of sheep with contagious ophthalmia but the bacteria have not been proven to be pathogenic in this situation.
