AP portable chest radiograph, a radiographic examination of the chest performed with a portable x-ray machine in the room of an immobilized patient. The film holder is placed behind the patient and the x-ray tube in front. The patient is positioned as upright as possible to allow for visualization of fluid levels in the lungs. Use of this method may result in an enlarged cardiac shadow, as compared with a posterior-to-anterior chest x-ray. Also called AP mobile projection. How to thank TFD for its existence?
