ABCB8

A gene on chromosome 7q36 that encodes an ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter superfamily of integral membrane proteins, MDR/TAP subfamily, which is involved in multi-drug resistance as well as antigen presentation. It may be involved in the compartmentalisation and transport of heme and peptides, from the mitochondria to the nucleus and cytosol, and transport of phospholipids into mitochondrial membranes.
