Etymology: L, ultra, beyond, sonus, sound
a display of ultrasonic echoes in which the horizontal axis of the cathode ray tube display represents the time required for the return of the echo and the vertical axis represents the strength of the echo. The mode is used in echoencephalography. See also A-mode.
