A238L

A protein encoded by African swine fever virus, which is homologous to I-kappa-B, inhibiting binding of NF-kappa-B to DNA, blocking transcription of NF-kappa-B-dependent genes, and inhibiting synthesis of antiviral, pro-inflammatory cytokines IFN-alpha, TNF-alpha, and IL8 in infected macrophages. A238L also inhibits activation of transcription factor NF-AT, which controls expression of immunomodulatory proteins and pro-inflammatory cytokines.
