Neolithic

  1. the period of the new Stone Age which began approximately 10,000 years ago in the Middle East but not until c. 5,500 years ago in Britain where it lasted until c. 4,500 years ago. The period marks the beginning of plant cultivation and domestication of animals by humans.
  2. relating to this period.
