desmopressin /des·mo·pres·sin/ (des?mo-pres´in) a synthetic analogue of vasopressin, used as the acetate salt as an antidiuretic in central diabetes insipidus and in primary nocturnal enuresis, and as an antihemorrhagic in hemophilia A and von Willebrand's disease.

a synthetic analog of 8-arginine vasopressin; the acetate (DDAVP) is used for antidiuretic replacement therapy in the management of central diabetes insipidus and for the temporary polyuria and polydipsia associated with trauma to or surgery in the pituitary region.
