either of the two apertures (nares) of the nose that lead into the nasal cavity. See also nasal cavity.

accompanies dyspnea, is also present in tetanus as part of the generalized muscular tetany.

a blind pouch of skin dorsal to the true nostril in the horse. Called also nasal diverticulum.
false nostril cyst
developmental abnormality in the false nostril of a horse.

hemorrhage from nostril
regurgitation from nostril
a common finding in food animals as part of a syndrome of esophageal obstruction; also in horses with gastric dilatation and cows with severe rumen distention; also occurs in recumbent ruminants with motor paralysis as in milk fever or general anesthesia.
nostril vibrissae
the special tactile hairs around the nostrils.
